What is a counselling session like?

Most importantly of all, a good counselling session feels like an enormous relief, as you finally get to talk to someone about things that might be difficult to talk to someone else about. For our first counselling session, I will address important topics like confidentiality, the nature and history of your concerns, and how they have been affecting you. After that, we develop a plan for how best to help you cope with your situation and/or begin to make some courageous changes.

If you need additional sessions – and most people benefit from more than one session – we will continue to let you talk things through, express whatever emotions you need to, monitor your progress, support your efforts to change or cope, and create plan for your to stay well once you no longer need to keep seeing me.
